About this Episode

You can make a difference no matter who you are.

Today on On the Spot, our editor, Sheena Sharma, interviews Susan Solomont: entrepreneur, philanthropist, and author. She is the founder of the Women's Leadership Network, and author of the book "Lost and Found in Spain: Tales of an Ambassador's Wife."

When her husband accepted the role of serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Andorra, Susan's life was uprooted, and she left everything behind to follow her husband to Spain. Having to leave everything behind to move to Spain taught her many valuable lessons. Life is unpredictable, and it’s important to know that there’s not only one correct path.

[9:08] “I had to figure out who I was and how I wanted to be there, and I empathize with all those who do something new. For me? I’m thrilled I did it. It was a life-changing experience.”

When your life is uprooted, it can be scary, but a new start can lead to something great. Susan stumbled upon life-changing opportunities while in Spain, and eventually created a platform that brings people together internationally.

[10:38] “And I really hope that we all get to have opportunities to add to who we are, and grow with that.”

Make sure to keep an eye out for her upcoming children’s book: Stella the Ambassadog.
