As the 23rd Secretary of the Air Force Deborah was responsible for the affairs of the Department of the Air Force, including the organizing, training, equipping and providing for the welfare of its nearly 660,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian Airmen and their families. She also oversees the Air Force's annual budget of more than $139 billion
She recently published a book, "Aim High" a collection of personal stories walking women through the what and how to get things done in a male-dominated world.

On pursuing your dreams:
"Always have a plan "A" and have some formula to know where you want to go, but be agile and recognize that even if you make it to plan "A", you may discover you dont like it and need to pivot." [4:19]

On working as part of a team:
"You need to play to your strengths, to know what you're strengths are, understand what your strengths are NOT, and while you're trying to beef up those strenghts, recognize that you're in a team environment and leverage and celebrate the strengths of the team. [7:15]

Advice for working in a male-dominated industry:
"Prepare, prepare, prepare. Know your subject matter area and have confidence." [17:51]
